On 24 and 25 June 2006 the University world cup took place in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. After an exiting final Russia beat Chinese Taipei by only a one goal difference.
After winning from Russia in the mini-leagues on Saturday, The Netherlands was unable to present the same kind of shape on Sunday losing their match against Chinese Taipei in the Semi-Finals with a 4 goal difference and reached a convincing 3rd position after winning from Belgium with a 7 goal difference.
