The 2006 Korfbal School of Excellence course will take place from the 19th - 24th August 2006 and the course is now full with a total of 26 young players taking part.
The coaching staff will include Steve Barker (GB U19 coach), Peter Teague (GB U16 coach), Rudy Ramaekers (Former Belgian national coach), Patrick Bosschaert (Athletics trainer with the Belgian Tenovis Talent Deveopment Group), and James Beale (A Sports Psychologist at the University of East London.
The course will focus on the development of fundamental Korfball techncal skills, tactical awareness, Korfball specific athletic skills and the development of mental skills.
In addition the course will include visiting professsionals who will will deliver sessions on injury prevetion and treatment and diet and nutrition.
At present we are planning to incorporate a 'Coaching certificate' into the course for those sutdents currently involved in coaching junior players at their clubs and those likely to be assisting at future SOE clinics.
There is scope for anyone interested in coaching or teaching within the sport, or indeed parents of players aspiring to play at a high level, to visit to course to take part in specific periods or sit in on selectec session.
Such opportunities will of course be limited so as not to negatively imact on the efficient running of the course an anyone interested in doing so should contact me by email as should anyone interested in finding out more about the Korfball School of Excellence project and future SOE clinics.
The Korfball School Excellence course is a unique course within the sport of Korfball and the holistic approach adopted within the SOE project, and integrated successfully into the GB Youth squads over the last to years, is clearly one that other Korfball nations are now seeking to adopt.
